.::THE FILM::.

Bad Girls from Valley High is a teen comedy-thriller in the same vain as Jawbreaker and Mean Girls with a little "Tales from the Crypt" mixed in. The film is about three snotty teens (Benz, Keena, Bilderback) who killed a sweet girl named Charity so that one of them could get her boyfriend, Drew (Brandis; Hart's War). One year later, enter Romanian exchange student Katarina who not only gets Charity's old locker but also catches the attention of Drew (whose still being pursued). Now the trio must do something about Katarina... At the same time, the three become ill and are rapidly growing older everyday.

I've said it before, when the word "bad" is in the title, a film damn well be... good. Bad Girls, however is just that: bad. Very bad. This lame excuse for a comedy/thriller fails at each level. Despite being a comedy, Bad Girls comes off more of a spoof on teen movies (with its slapstick humor) than dark humor. And thrills? Why should I bother going there? They didn't.

The best way to describe the acting, it's just poor. The producers hired three actresses known (if at all) for their TV work. Julie Benz had a recurring role on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (and she actually co-starred in Jawbreaker as one of the girls who committed a crime), Monica Keena - "Dawon's Creek" and Nicole Bilderback on a couple shows including "Angel" and "Dawson's Creek". Personally hiring cheap actors for a low budget film is fine, but they should be able to pull off material that cross genres.

Bad Girls includes two veteran actors in Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future Trilogy) and scream queen Janet Leigh (Psycho). For his credit, Lloyd had some of the "funnier" scenes as he gets stuck with tacs, shot a couple of time and has a monitor hit his foot (among other things). The problem is, the slapstick moments don't fit in with the rest of the plot or tone.

Bad Girls from Valley High (aka A Fate Totally Worse Than Death) was directed by TV veteran John T. Kretchmer ("Charmed", "Special Unit 2") who proves he should just stick with television. With a movie this poor, it's hard to place the blame on this guy, but it is what it is...

Perhaps teens may find some fun for this movie, but I couldn't find anything for me.

.::SPECIAL FEATURES::.

Two deleted scenes. That's it. Two measley scenes just as insignificant as the movie itself! One of them has Benz suffering another effect of aging while the second has yet another Christopher Lloyd moment as he gets tripped by Benz. Whoopi doo doo. Sadly this disc -- while having chapter stops -- does not have a chapter index! I realize this is a crappy film, but they didn't even bother with an index? Really?

.::AUDIO & VIDEO::.

Although the picture looks pretty good, the sound could've been better as this disc only offers a two-channel surround sound. Although it doesn't sound terrible (and I've certainly have heard alot worse), I would expect better from current releases.

.::OVERALL::.

What can I say? This is a bad, bad, BAD DVD. The only way one would shell out $25 is if they truly loved this movie, otherwise don't bother. When a company is so lazy that they can't even put on a chapter index, why should you even rent it?
