.::THE FILM::.

You know what the saddest thing about Conspiracy is? Is it the cliché ridden action scenes? No. Is it the incredibly dumb flashbacks? No. The worst part about the whole project is that you can tell that when director Adam Marcus (of such "classics" like Jason Goes to Hell and *chuckle* Snow Day) pitched this to Val Kilmer, he probably had him thinking this was going to be an "deep" action film full of great character defining drama that would challenge Kilmer as an actor, and hell, as an person. No such luck...

No, what we get instead is Kilmer as an man known only as Macpherson, an former Gulf War Vet (it's not clear as to which Gulf War as Kilmer's age eludes to the early 90's and yet all the flashbacks clearly say "2005". sigh.) who is having flashbacks of the horrors he faces during the war, in particular how an little girl was killed during an suicide bombing there. He decided he can't do these things anymore and remembers one of his fellow soldiers telling him he could always come stay with him and work on his ranch. So Macpherson does just that only to discover... evil racist lawmen!!! duh, duh, DUHHHHH. Yes, evil racist lawman lead by a mustache twirling Gary Cole (for an easy paycheck) who "wants to take back the country from foreigners" and "keep all these illegal aliens in line". Not on Kilmer's watch!

What follows is an pissed off Kilmer, who also has a peg leg (yep, they went there). And they also have a lot of scenes where Kilmer gets shot in the peg leg, gets beat or beats someone else with it; taking out throngs of evil corrupt lawmen with just an pistol at his side and his ridiculous, sudden flashbacks whittling at his psyche along the way.

Conspiracy is the type of straight to DVD garbage that you rent because... well... you're bored, it's a Thursday night and you and your friends want to get stupid drunk and laugh at a bad film. So as long as you accept that, I think you can't go wrong. Its drunken movie night ecstasy at its finest.

No features.

For a straight to video flick, it looks and sounds okay. Nothing spectacular. I did notice some of the colors look a little too orange or an little too brown at times, but nothing that bad.

I can't blame Conspiracy's failure on Kilmer or any of the other actors who are here just "working", I blame it on the substandard writing and the pedestrian directing but as I said before, if you're just looking to get messed up with some buddies, this is right up your alley.
